Lazy Dungeon Master — Rec 2 Pt 2

There’s a few things in this post, I recommend looking through it all~

Enjoy!

If anyone is interested in reading another dungeon themed novel and wants a darker take on the subject, I highly recommend taking a look at:

Dungeon Defense

(Novel Updates)

(Translator’s Site)

Summary:

Do you know how this world ends?

Become the hero and defeat the 72 Demon Lords. The game that was boasted as the absolute hardest strategy game, 『Dungeon Attack』.

I used to be the ‘hero’ that had accomplished everything in this game, but after answering a suspicious survey, I found myself in the game as the weakest Demon Lord, 「Dantalian」.

With only my eloquent tongue and my memories of conquest as a hero—.

In order to survive as Dantalian. I shall tear this world apart.

Origin Language: Korean
(IMO) Genre: Psychological, Romance, Fantasy, Dark/Mature, Dungeon

Its writing is magnificent. Beyond the level of something like Overlord. The MC develops stratagems using his preexisting knowledge of the game world he finds himself in. This has easily become my #1 most anticipated read. I hope you all give it a shot and show your support to the translator for bringing us this masterpiece.

By the way, it was recently pointed out to me that I never updated the image that described what the spiral staircase looks like to give a visual example. For those interested, just look at this. Note that there are no railings in Keima’s version, along with having wooden beams for footholds rather than proper stairs.

Someone commented on the previous part telling me to not mix up stories and put the links correctly, thinking that this wasn’t Lazy Dungeon Master.

That made me smile. ^^

Guild’s Cheat Receptionist 4 (The fifth book) was released back on June 30th and I just realized that fact yesterday. More information coming on that Soon™.

  1. I actually discovered Dungeon Defense the other day. I almost didn’t read it after the prologue, but the rest of the volume wasn’t nearly as despair-inducing. Well, I’ll keep reading it as long as I can stand it, the writing is very good.

    1. I actually read it 4-5 days ago and I gotta say is a really slow starting novel but the moment it pick up the pace is one of the best novel I have read, It just that it take 3 chapters to make you yell “WHAT A BASTARD”.

  2. it’s really good. but those of you that doesn’t like to read a lot of words won’t like dungeon defense. one chapter is what…15-20k words in english?

  3. Kill give it a try I ended up no longer reading overloaf at some point I’ll probably start reading it again at some point but not for awhile.

  4. i don’t know i saw this before and i didn’t follow through with reading it for some reason. i will give it a try. i hope it is something i can enjoy, i really enjoy stories where the underdog steamrolls stronger enemies with his knowledge of the future. have you read amber sword before? i think you might really enjoy it, personally i stopped it at the latest update because it is not the kind of story i would like chapter by chapter but in bundles you know. it has the same setting only this time the main character is a nobody. some villager that would have died at the hand of the vanguard of the first wave. actually a scout, not even infantry, haha. and if you want a really amazing chinese novel i got two, ”I’m really a superstar” which is amazing btw, it is so unique and so funny and well done that you wouldn’t even think it is a chinese novel., it really gives you insight into chinese culture. (well urban one of course, and mainly work) and the second one is law of the devil. have you seen a xianxia that focuses on developing it story and characters, with politics as well? well this one is it. though to be sure it has cultivation, but to date our mc (in chapter 200 almost and the novel ends at 669) doesn’t even have the qualification to practice the first spell of his ancestor. not that he is weak mind you, but this isn’t your typical ”strong and weak” world, anyways the story is most important. a large conspiracy is going on anyways, and the way everything is connected. i am just telling you this isn’t even a chinese novel almost, it feels akin to a western fantasy. anyways it is really good.

thanks for your recommendation anyway, now. Humph i gave you face by recommending some novels to you, now i your father will go read this.

    1. Reading both The Amber Sword and Dungeon Defense I’d say D.S is the stronger story, plus in T.A.S contrary to his own monologue he’s always been OP but Dantalian in D.D only has his wit and future knowledge to survive. That said I still enjoy The Amber Sword and would also recommend I am The Monarch which has a similar premise without the game elements.

  5. Dungeon Defense was pretty good, but the blatant anti-loli stuff going on is pretty off-putting. Might just forget about following it I suppose.

    1. Wait, why? Some of my favorite novels are Korean ( Evolution Theory of the Hero, I Am the Monarch, Running away from the Hero) and Dungeon Defense is one of the best I’ve read from any country. Seems like you’d miss a lot of good stories just by making snap decisions based on the country of origin.
