Update by Forsaken Hero’s Author, Yuuto Ran

Here’s a loosely translated update post from the author on 6/3 that can be found here.

[Life Report] Slump

Good morning. Good evening. Yuuto Ran here.

It’s as the title says.
I’m in a slump.

I’ve fell into them before, but it’s awful this time.
I’m generally writing trash, it usually fixes itself by writing trash though.

As for the reason, it’s probably a lack of motivation?
Losing motivation is the same as losing time to write, you know?

Right now I’m not writing many words, and everyday I keep reading about everyone’s progress in writing.

I apologize to the people who usually comment and let me know their impression. I’m sorry for you all taking the trouble to send me messages of your concern.
Since I’ve been keeping at it in order to somehow struggle and reach the conclusion, when I take a peek at them, it makes me very happy.

Sometimes, since I decide to contribute to life reports to show that I’m still alive instead of short stories or short publications, it would make me very happy if you thought something like: [Oh, that guy’s still alive huh?].

Well then.

        1. My guess would be that the author didn’t have much choice. If he continued in that direction the series would’ve ended up pretty bad; the ending would have been the worst. You can kind of tell that an author is about to run into a dead end once they start killing off characters. If they’re not skilled in their writing the author can run into a dead end where ideas stop flowing and it becomes harder to create a well balanced story; it ends being rushed and crappy. My prime example is Rising of The Shield Hero (WB novel version); after Atlas(?), the tiger girl demi-human, died the MC became OP as fuck, then things escalated quickly leading to an out of left field appearance from a villain who was hardly ever foreshadowed at all, which then transitioned to apocalypse, bitch goddess, MC sudden death, MC becomes God, and total break down of plot where everything prior became pointless. In the end the story broke down right at the climax, became boring, and if not because the story started out very well, I would have dropped it and forget it even existed because I don’t give a damn about third rate novels. On that note I love what they did with the light novel version, it leaves me in suspense and always wanting more; it’s gone in a much better direction than the WB novel version.
