Extra Info

The Epic Tale of the Forsaken Hero

I will be waiting until Yuzima finishes the volume, in case he rewrites a chapter or a part of a chapter. He’s had priors of doing this before Volume 4, even excluding the recent shenanigans, and I’d rather not have to re-TL something over again…!

Sorry for everyone who was anticipating it being released soon.

Dragon’s Bloodline

As of last week we hit the 1/4th mark of Dragon’s Bloodline, yay! Seems like just a bit ago that Ria and Co. set out from the capital. My thoughts on the series so far is that a few of the characters are incredibly flat, specifically Serge. He’s just a walking-talking shota-shaped gnomish army knife. If this were an MMO, he’d be the UI. I also dislike how easily the series throws around the term “slaves”… well, that’s a problem I have with most fiction aimed at younger audiences in general but that’s a topic for another time. I might do a full discussion post here one of these days to see what everyone thinks? Hmm.

On the other hand, I love the relations building between Maal and Ria and hope they earn Lulu’s ire soon… hehe. Yuri is fun. The action is nice. The author and Ria both obviously overvalue Japanese swords, but that’s part of the fun! This is fantasy, it doesn’t have to be realistic!

Lazy Dungeon Master

I quite like the direction the MC’s character building is going. The author is effectively making it seem Keima is doing things half-assed but he’s seriously working to make his sleeping area peaceful. All the while keeping up his humor and actual laziness. Respect!

Rokuko’s dumb remarks catch me by surprise sometimes, making me realize that my self-auto correct for stupid triggered as a false alarm. I automatically want to assume she isn’t saying those things and that I read it wrong, but…

I wasn’t sure if I needed to explicitly state this, but I probably should–Meat’s name is the Japanese word for meat (肉), but is spelled out in kana (ニク). Just clearing up that they aren’t saying Meat ( ミート).

It hasn’t been addressed yet, but I wonder if things in LDM’s world has any sort of leveling system? Or maybe item rarities? The dungeon master considers Meat as an item, so I wonder if there’s any way for her to rank up…

The Guild’s Cheat Receptionist

Well, this series is taking ages to translate. I might not work on the extra chapters this week to try and catch up. I fell behind because there have been a few lines that entirely lost me and took me more than an hour each for me to figure out… Thankfully, LDM’s common usage of slang has helped with a few things here. Definitely don’t regret picking that series up!

At this rate, I am almost 100% certain I will be breaking Chapter Three into two parts, as it is twice the size of this one and could easily take me half a year to finish due to working on the other projects.

For those reserved about the series due to its slow pacing — please give the second chapter a shot when it comes out. The pacing of light novels are generally much slower than web novels and it is exacerbated by the fact that it isn’t exactly a beat-em-up like Dragon’s Bloodline. However, the trade off for being slower is that they are much more consistent in quality with characters, pacing, and dialogues. And they have illustrations…

Oh! If anyone is interested in removing the Japanese text from the remaining illustrations that I have inside of the Illustrations section of GCR, please say something here! I would love to do it myself, but thinking of the amount of time it would take I decided against it. However, I believe it is important to make sure everything is kept to the same level of importance here! Illustrations are also a core part of light novels and should not be ignored!

Thanks for reading all the way.

Hope you all have a good week!

  1. Thx for the hard work!

Well, as I have been asking, please do split the CGR into many parts. Like into 2 parts for chapter 2 and 4 parts for chapter 3. In the end, each parts will only be slightly longer than 2 chapters of LDM and DB each…

  2. Although i agree that author-sensei and Ria overvalued katanas but katanas are indeed have a higher ceiling compared to western swords when it comes to penerating power and its sharpness though gets broken easily(old katana’s toughness is good in old eras compared to latter eras)… Well Ria’s evaluation are over the top indeed… 🙂 i also admire katanas since my uncle is a blacksmith but not much… Oyasuminasai na~

  3. OH damnit! i wrote a long overview about how much i like each of the series on here and why. but i missed it because i accidentally went out of this page!! whatever, what i wanted to say was. you are a great translator sent by the gods of the cyberweb to bless all leechers, thank you.

second thing was. i love dragon’s bloodline, and i must admit i do agree that serge is just the ‘reincarnated shota’ at times, but i like him very much. Dragon’s bloodline is a story with a fast pace and awesome action scenes, so you have to cut it some slack if every character doesn’t have a voice. honestly the one i recognize the easiest is carlos, and then ria and so on. thing i like about dragon’s bloodline are Ria,swords, character interactions, fight sequences, characters, fantasy and Ria again lol. Can’t believe we are already 1/4 through it, awesome series.
LdM is awesome too, especially because it is so unique, and because the main character is lazy, BUT works hard to earn the right to be lazy. he is awesome. i am a bit sad rokuku didn’t actually have a thing for goblins, but oh well.

i am really hyped for guild’s receptionist. i love the main character everything about her, from her personality to her past! the guild structure, the easy feeling that permeates the whole series, making it feel like a slice of life instead of actually hardcore fantasy. and the relation the guild and countries have is interesting.

well Ziru i just have to say one thing you said on this was just so awesome- ”it is fantasy it doesn’t have to be realistic.” i was like oh god yes!! finally someone who gets it, the whole reason i love fantasy is because it is not realistic, if i wanted to learn about how to be an accountant in an alternate world, i will just read a text book about it, i love fantasy because of the freedom, imagination is set free and nothing truly restricts it unlike other genres. You can have everything horror, romance drama, and you can still have magic! as long as the story of course obeys its own laws, fantasy is the greatest!

and for those of you wondering why i wrote such a long comments on an schedule update, naturally i am procrastinating starting on my own series -,-

        1. It should have been/was still in the comment box thing. Look at your comment–it still has the huge thing you were talking about. 😀

          1. ah, this whole thing is the rewritten version my friend. when i came back to the page the comment box didn’t have my comment there 🙁 of course it might have something to do with that i wasn’t actually on your page, but just over viewing it from my reader place.
